2010 Parade Theme: SERVICE THROUGH THE AGES

Entry Instructions

To enter the Parade:

1. Complete the Registration Form.

2. Sign the Release and Indemnity Form.

3. Provide check for any applicable Entry Fee.*

4. Provide proof of insurance for all vehicles.

5. Provide a copy of the driver’s license of anyone who will be operating a motor vehicle in the     Parade.

NOTE: Entries must be received no later than November 1, 2010.

*Entry Fee

An entry fee of $50.00 is required of each commercial entry. A “commercial entry” is considered to be an entry sponsored and/ or entered in the parade by a business, a political entity, a non-charitable organization and for-profit concerns. All other entries are exempt. The determination of the required entry fee will be at the discretion of the Parade Chairman.

Attire

Veterans are encouraged to wear uniforms and bring their own flags and banners.

Uniforms are preferable for marching bands.

Comfortable shoes are suggested.

All forms of attire should reflect respect for Veterans.

Participant Guidelines

Floats should depict an event relevant to Veterans or a patriotic theme. Float designs and audio presentations must be pre-approved by the Parade Committee no later than October 25.

Veterans’ organizations and organizations which exist for the purpose of honoring veterans, who return an entry form by the deadline, are welcome in the parade.

Veterans’ organizations that wish to enter non-military vehicles in the parade are limited to 12 vehicles or 25 motorcycles per organization.

Schools that return an entry form by the deadline will be welcome in the parade.

Entries which include one or more non-military vehicles carrying an individual veteran will

be included at the discretion of the Parade Chairman. If you are proposing such an entry, please share why the veteran is being honored with his/ her own entry.

Entries that are strictly commercial in nature are not permitted in the Parade.

By entering the Parade, participants agree not to litter the parade route. For safety reasons, distribution of handbills, candy, etc. must be done by hand. Throwing or tossing any item is expressly forbidden and may result in your exclusion from the Parade.

By entering the Parade, participants agree to follow the outlined parade route and maintain the pace set by designated Parade Officials. Parade units are not allowed to stop to perform routines along the route or in front of the bandstand unless given express written permission by the Parade Chairman. Failure to comply with this request may result in exclusion from future Parades.

Each participating organization must provide and display identifying signage for their parade entry.

Smoking, gum or tobacco chewing, and drinking of alcoholic beverages are not allowed while participating in the Parade. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in the staging area or on the Parade route.

It is strongly suggested that all participants provide their own water. The parade organizers are not responsible for ensuring water is available for participants.

Mesa Veterans’ Parade Association does not provide transportation for this event.

Vehicle Participation Guidelines

All vehicles must be pre-approved by the Parade Chairman.

All vehicles must display identifying signage.

Judging of Parade Entries

Parade entries will be judged and awards will be presented in a minimum of six categories.

The categories will be announced a later date.

Judging criteria will be heavily weighted in favor of Veterans’ themed entries and will be entirely at the discretion of the judges.

INFORMATION HAS BEEN INCLUDED AND ALL REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN

MET. UPON APPROVAL, YOU WILL RECEIVE AN EMAIL CONFIRMING THE

ACCEPTANCE OF YOUR ENTRY.
